Confession: I have a happy rock. I go to sleep holding it almost every night. I promise there's a reason why. I've always loved collecting cool rocks. I love really smooth ones, or ones with stripes. I grew up in Arizona by a creek, and the rocks there were infinitely fascinating to me. It was one way I bonded with nature. This is my special stone: It is really a miraculous piece. I think it's volcanic rock that formed around a shell, and then was tossed and tumbled into its smooth state by the ocean waves. After an awesome session with Nicola Vitcovich of FasterChanges, I had the homework of thinking of the happiest part of my day as I fell asleep that night. She said if I had some special rock I could hold onto, all the better. Feeling the rock would help anchor that feel-good state. What's your nightly routine? What do you do to calm yourself? Do you go to sleep with thoughts of the day behind or the day ahead rushing through your mind? Here are steps to try out your own version of a "happy rock" for the next 3 days. Please tell me how it goes!
